Tilling the Soil

                                                                                                                                                               2010 May 5

Dear prayer partners,

Greetings. The farmers here in the Thumb of Michigan are tilling the soil and planting their crops. “Christian professionals in North Chosun are tilling the ground and getting things ready to plant the seed of His Word,” I said to a group at my home church. “Please pray for them as they till the ground. Sometimes that takes time in countries like N Korea.”

Praise the Lord for the different groups I’ve met with in the last month. At one of the Fairgrove ladies groups that I met with, I met a high schooler, M., who helped with the PowerPoint showing! – who is interested in long-term missions. In a local deli, I also met a young pastor and young man from his church; the young man is somewhat interested in missions. Wow! In little rural Michigan. I shared with an older adults group at my church yesterday about N Korea. I called the youth pastor at my church and asked if I could share my testimony with some of the high schoolers this summer. I thought back to 1975 when a missionary came and shared his testimony at my little country church, one week before I left for college. Maybe my testimony can speak to some young person here about letting Jesus be Lord and becoming available for missions. Praise the Lord for all these opportunities. Please pray that I can share with some young people at Colwood, and that M. will continue to learn about missions and be available to Him for service.

The end of April I sent out the N Korea Prayer Bulletin to over 500 people! Praise the Lord. New pray-ers are coming from Washington, Indiana, California, the United Kingdom and other places. The article this time was on the relationship between China and N Korea. I saw in a Yahoo link recently that the “Dear Leader” Kim Jong-Il seems to be visiting China this week. China is his strongest and richest ally right now. Let us keep praying for N Korea: that humans be treated like humans; that people seek for their Creator God; and for the salvation of their leader Kim Jong-Il.

I leave May 8 for 4 ½ weeks in Ontario. My hostess, a retired OMF missionary, has arranged for me to share at several OMF prayer groups and other places about N Korea.  Many people don’t know a lot about N Korea; and I can help them learn about it and God’s heart for her. I will print the schedule on the back of this letter. If you pray for me every day, you can see what I’m doing. Please pray that the Lord help me share well and listen well and that many people will begin praying regularly for N Korea. Also please pray that some young people will be available to the Lord to go as Christian professionals to that corner of the world. We need seekers and workers. / Also, we have planned a luncheon and sharing time in Caro on July 10. We are also planning to show ‘Crossing’ that day, an excellent film a N Korean family. If you can come, that would be great! ‘Save the date!’  Also, please pray for a couple of health items – stop press. One of these health items was resolved Tuesday: ‘No problem,’ the doctor said. Praise the Lord.

Prayer points: pray for professional in the North who are ‘tilling the soil’

- for Megan, the gal interested in missions; and that I can share with high schoolers at my church

- that humans be treated like humans in N Korea and seek God, and for the leader’s salvation

- for our meetings in Ontario; and that many people come July 10

Thank you for your prayers.
