Paul Findlay update

Dear Tom,   July 8, 2010

Hi. I'm here at Dad's room. Mom is here, and Sharon (sister) just walked in. An hour ago, Dad said, 'Tomorrow tell Tom how I'm doing.' I said, 'I'll do it today!' So --

'Big breakthrough: I walked on the right foot on the parallel bars yesterday; and today I sat up on the edge of the bed for the first time, and walked with the walker about 3 feet (in the physical therapy room) and sat down, and did this about 3 times. Tomorrow morning I'll have a shower in the shower stall in the bathroom near my room.' He is really excited about all this development! One PT lady, 'you have made as much progress in the last 2 days, as some people make in 2 weeks.' And last Sunday night, we had a hymnsing here! A friend from Colwood came, and her sister; then a friend of Dad's (born the same day, same year) and a friend of hers came, and they are excellent singers; and we kept singing old hymns. Even a nurse stopped in and sang along. We had some requests from one of the aides; and later another aide said, 'If you do it next week, please sing Amazing Grace.' So - praise the Lord. Now I think we need to really look ahead to discharge.

OK! He wanted us to tell you, Tom. Pass the news on to your church family.
See you ...
