When you see a brand new housing development in the suburbs, it tends to be rows of houses that are pretty much the same. Cookie cutter manufacturing with each unit built with only minor differences in features or color shades from a limited range of choices. With humankind there is much more variety. Genetics, environment, nature, nurture, appearance, thoughts, ideas, opinions, traits, personality, sense of humor, relationships, habits, hobbies, talents, passions, dreams, abilities, education, experiences, aspirations, talents, memories...there are so many factors that combine to make you uniquely you, Even identical twins are not truly identical in every way. Some of the characteristics can be changed and others may be out of your control to do much about. There is only one “you” and your place in the world is uniquely special.
The biggest influence on what makes you special is God. He formed you, inside and out, when you were in your mother’s womb (from Psalm 139:13-14). He knit you together. We know from science that DNA holds the blueprint for how our bodies form and many traits that develop as with grow. But I wouldn’t put it past God to tweak and give the DNA a nudge to refine the design to what He sees as just right for you. He knew and approved of you before you were born (Jeremiah 1:5). As you grow and develop, God invests into your spirit to encourage you to become all that He expected. He instills dreams and goals. He does this through-out our lives, working on us even as we advance in years. He knows the true you and what you are capable of. God loves when we reach out to ask Him to continue to form us to be the best version of ourselves. He works in you to create the power and desire to work for His good pleasure, satisfaction and delight (from Philippians 2:13). God opens doors, creates opportunities, teaches us lessons, even gives us trials or says ‘no’, all for our overall benefit. God knows the plans He has for you, thoughts and plans for your good and peace, not evil, His plans are to give you hope (from Jeremiah 29:11).
You can become a vessel of God, by making yourself available to be filled with His spirit to be used to fulfill the unique purpose He had in mind for you. Let your life and your person become a living, breathing, walking, testimony to God: His power, His influence, His grace, His blessings, His love. Just like you have a unique fingerprint, let God use you so that others can see God’s fingerprints on you. Thanks to God, you are fearfully and wonderfully made and that makes you very special.
God Bless!
